OHB Technology – Many years of experience in space travel and telematics

  • 1981/1982 Otto Hydraulik Bremen GmbH (OHB) bought by the Fuchs family
  • 1985 Activities in the space segment commenced
  • 1991 Renamed Orbital- und Hydrotechnologie Bremen-System GmbH
  • 1993 OHB Teledata GmbH and STS Systemtechnik Schwerin GmbH established
  • 1991 Development contract for OEM on-board module for MAN vehicles received

  • 2001 OHB Teledata floated in the Neuer Markt segment of the Frankfurt stock exchange
  • 2001 OHB syndicate awarded contract for the SAR Lupe project, i.e. the development, construction, launch and operation of the radar-based reconnaissance system for the Federal Republic of Germany
  • 2002 Investment by OHB in the ORCOMM satellite network. 10% shares in ORBCOMM LLC
  • 2002 OHB-System and OHB Teledata merged under the roof of OHB Technology AG, new OHB shares admitted to trading

  • 2003 OHB Technology AG ranked first in Germany and 10th in Europe as the fastest-growing high-tech company in 2003
  • 2004 OHB involved in the development of protective shields and cable harnesses for the ATV fleet for the ISS
  • 2005 New company LUXSPACE Sárl established by OHB Technology in Luxembourg
  • 2005 MAN Technology AG, Augsburg, acquired by OHB Technology and Apollo Capital Partners; MT Aerospace AG established

  • 2006 OHB-System awarded contract for the delivery and launch of six ORBCOMM satellites
  • 2006 Successful launch of the first radar satellite for the SAR-Lupe system
  • 2006 OHB awarded contract worth a total of around EUR 87 million for implementing the ground segments E-SGA and FSLGS
  • 2007 OHB-System awarded Small Geo contract by ESA worth around EUR 100 million
  • 2007 Long-term contract signed by OHB Teledata for the delivery of telematics terminals to DAF Trucks
  • 2007 Strategic investment acquired by OHB Technology in US space technology company SpaceDev Inc. (19%)
  • 2007 All of the capital of Kayser-Threde GmbH, Munich, acquired by OHB Technology AG. 

  • 2008 Strategic 50% share in RST Raumfahrt Systemtechnik GmbH acquired by OHB Technology  
  • 2008 Columbus module successfully docked to ISS  
  • 2008 European space transporter ATV successfully docked to International Space Station ISS
  • 2008 Successful launch of the six ORBCOMM satellites (1 ORBCOMM CDS, 5 ORBCOMM quick launches)
  • 2008 Successful launch of the fifth and final SAR-Lupe satellite
